Great pic. Do you happen to know the name of this spider? I have them in my garden, too.
Hi Kate...I think it's Araneus diadematus, the Common Garden, or Cross Spider...very common in the Portland area, we seem to have millions...and they LOVE building webs where I'll walk through them and do my crazy "OMG, there's a spider in my hair!" dance.
Lovely shot - its a very colourful spider most of ours are black.
Great photo! We have one (looks just like that)that builds its web every night by our patio light. My son leaves the light on for him to catch bugs....:)
Fantastic photo! I love the muted colors in the background. What camera/lens did you use for this photo?
I call them "hard shell" spiders. I think the only plus side to winter is no more spider webs to walk into!
Gorgeous shot with the pastel colors behind the web. :)
Thanks for the comments, all!Leavesnbloom: hmmm, wonder what kind those are?Amy: He's a smart kid, i'll take a spider web over mosquito bites any day of the week ;-)Aerie-el: Thanks! I used by Canon Rebel xti with a Canon 28-135 IS lens (borrowed from work).Krissy: :-)Racquiel: Thanks!
How cool that the spider and web both turned out so well! I'd print and frame this one.
Thanks Sue! I was pretty happy with it, the pattern of the web is really striking, I totally lucked out and caught it at the right time :-)
