  2. Hi Kate...I think it's Araneus diadematus, the Common Garden, or Cross Spider...very common in the Portland area, we seem to have millions...and they LOVE building webs where I'll walk through them and do my crazy "OMG, there's a spider in my hair!" dance.

  4. Great photo! We have one (looks just like that)that builds its web every night by our patio light. My son leaves the light on for him to catch bugs....:)

  6. I call them "hard shell" spiders. I think the only plus side to winter is no more spider webs to walk into!
